Do Not Disturb Consent FAQs

SMS INFORMATION

As of July 2023, all US & some international cell phone carriers now require the official registration of brands & campaigns sending B2C text messages. It's part of a new regulation, A2P10DC, that aims to protect consumers from scams & spam. As a result, SMS platforms like Twilio are required to block SMS traffic from any number that is not approved or violates the rules.

In order to be approved, senders must have a clear opt-in & opt-out message at the point where a client would provide their phone number to the business. Because of this, we have now added Do Not Disturb messaging to online booking pages to ensure your SMS traffic is not disrupted.

EMAIL INFORMATION

Similarly, email marketing platforms require senders to secure implicit and/or explicit consent depending on the types of emails sent in order to comply with their Terms of Service. Securing consent upfront reduces the likelihood of unsubscribes; senders who accumulate even a small percentage of unsubscribes may be blocked from sending.

Now you have the option to screenshot your booking page if needed for your vendors and feel confident that clients are providing consent to receive communications

IMPORTANT DETAILS REGARDING DND

  • Where can you find the Do Not Disturb request for consent?

    • It is present on the first page of your Online Booking portal.

  • What information will Patients see?

    • The option TO consent is the default choice Patients will see. They will have to physically change it to I do not consent to opt out.

What can you expect if a Patient does not consent to SMS & email communications?

You will see this information marked on the Patient's profile as soon as they confirm their booking.

If at any point the Patient changes their mind, you can toggle the DND off, and they will resume communications.

How does DND impact your Patient communications?

If the Patient chooses not to consent, it will eliminate nearly all communications from the Practice. The only emails that will go out to a DND Patient are the initial booking confirmation & Pre & Post Treatment Instructions since they relate to the medical procedure.

What are some things to keep in mind with DND?

  • Patients will not receive email & SMS appointment reminders if they have not consented for communications.

  • Patients will not receive the verification email to complete registration on the Patient Portal.

  • Surveys will not be sent.

  • POS receipts will not be sent.

If at any point a Patient mentions they did not receive a communication they were expecting, check this information first, and if toggled on, request their consent to turn off DND, and if they agree, communications will resume as normal!
